Overview

Overview

Aftrlife is a social content platform built around multi-format content creation and community connection. The app enables users to post across four distinct content types: audio, video, photo, and text within a single unified feed experience. Beyond content creation, the platform supports personal channels, timeline views, profile management, and a policy framework, positioning it as a content-first community platform with a structured creator experience. The design scope covered the end-to-end mobile product: sign-up and onboarding, home feed, content creation flows for each media type, channel management, and profile all designed as a cohesive mobile app experience with a desktop landing page as the acquisition entry point.

Challenge

Challenge

Designing Aftrlife meant building a complete social product from the ground up. The challenge was to create a coherent, end-to-end mobile app experience that held together across every touchpoint: acquisition, onboarding, content creation, feed discovery, and profile management. Each of these required its own design logic, yet all needed to feel like a single product. Supporting four distinct content formats within one unified creation experience, without making the app feel fragmented or feature-heavy, was the central design problem that shaped every decision in the product.

Users declare their intent at the start of onboarding — self-service or managed — personalizing the experience architecture from the first screen rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all setup flow.

Each media type has purpose-built creation screens — audio with recording and pause states, video with aspect ratio controls, photo with tag and color tools, text with composition UI — making multi-format creation feel intentional rather than bolted on.

Upload progress surfaced on the home screen

Content upload status is shown inline on the home feed rather than in a separate status screen — allowing users to continue browsing while their content processes, reducing abandonment during upload.

The platform separates discovery (home feed) from personal curation (my channel), giving users both a place to explore community content and a dedicated view of their own posts — two distinct use cases served without UI compromise.

Desktop landing page as the acquisition layer

A full desktop landing page acts as the platform's public-facing acquisition surface — separating the marketing and onboarding experience from the in-app product, with clear CTAs driving users into the mobile sign-up flow.
